Referendar at Hamburg; after passing second law examination, 1884, practised at Bar at Hamburg; Doctor jaris utinusque (i.e., LL.D); entered German Foreign Office, 1888; Vice-Consul at Constantinople, 1889-1894; Consul at Ruse-link (Bulgaria), 1895-96; Consul at Manila, 1897-1904; Consul at Hongkong, 1934 to present; captain of Reserve in German Army. Decorations: Several German and foreign. Club: Germania, and Hongkong. Address: German Consulate, Wyndham Street; and "Luginsland," Peak Road, Hongkong.
