Acts of Pilate

Commonly referred to by its Latin name, Acta Pilati, this work went through many revisions and conflations with other ancient works. In the Middle Ages the work was most often called the Gospel of Nicodemus (Evangelium Nicodemi), often with additions, including the Descensus Christi ad Inferos. The Report of Pilate to the Emperor Claudius, also included in the Acts of Peter and Paul, is included as an appendix in many manuscripts. The entire work was completed by the 4th century, with sections written in both Greek and Latin between the late 2nd and early 4th centuries.
