Pittis, William, s. Thomas, of par. Holyrood, Southampton (town), doctoris. New Coll., matric. 14 Aug., 1690, aged 16; fellow, B.A. 1694, fined 100 marks by Queen's bench in April, 1706, for writing a pamphlet "The case of the Church of England's memorial fairly stated," also on 3 Dec., 1714, was admitted to bail, having been in custody for writing another pamphlet called "Reasons for a war with France;" died at his chambers in the Inner Temple over the crown office, about Nov., 1724.
