Douglas, Aretas Akers, 1s. Aretas Akers, of Smeaton, co. Leicester, cler. University Coll., matric. 15 Oct., 1870, aged 18; bar.-at-law, Inner Temple, 1874, assumed the additional name of Douglas 1875, M.P. East Kent April, 1880, to Nov., 1885. Kent (St. Augustine's division) since Dec., 1885, patronage secretary to the Treasury (or whip) June, 1885, to Jan., 1886, and since July 1886. See Foster's Men at the Bar.
