Bilch, feminine, ‘dormouse,’ from the equivalent Middle High German bilch, Old High German bilich (whence Old Bulgarian plŭchŭ, ‘dormouse,’ is borrowed?); bil- is primitively cognate with Welsh bele, ‘marten.’
