Zindel, m., ‘light taffeta,’ from the equiv. MidHG. zindâl, zëndâl; from MidLat. cendalum (Gr. σίνδων, ‘fine linen,’ lit. ‘Indian stuff’), whence Ital. zendado, and zendale.
