John McMahan

John McMahan was the brother of Robert G. McMahan. They were partners with Col. Beirne and neightbors of Fawcetts in Harrisonburg. Robert married Branson's widow in Gainesville, Alabama and was a partner there in mercantile with Branson. John moved to Courtland in 1828, and Lyle joined them in 1834, after his parents and some siblings moved to Missouri. Joseph moved with his family to Staunton in 1827 (or 1828) after his business failed. There he operated a mercantile until moving to Missouri in spring of 1834.
