Thomas Kirkman Dealy
FRGS, FEIS, FCS, DRF (Paris). Born in Yorkshire, he came to Hong Kong in 1884 to become a teacher at the Central School that later became Queen's College, Hong Kong. After Headmaster G. H. Bateson Wright retired in 1909, T. K. Dealy became the 3rd Schoolmaster of Queen's College, retiring in 1918. While schoolmaster, he also was Hong Kong Government Director of Education for some months. Without having a University degree, he was nevertheless highly learned, being fluent in Cantonese, French, and Russian. Among his many translations were over seven hundred poems of the Tang dynasty.
