As "G. C." in The Original[edit]

  • David E. Latané's William Maginn and the British Press (2013): "At the end of June, a peculiar item, “Some Account of the Death of Morgan O’Doherty” led off a threepenny paper titled the Original. Signed “G. C.” (the publisher George Cowie), it appropriates the backstory for O’Doherty from the early volumes of Blackwood’s but makes him a gray-eyed man from Cork." This goes into some detail about Morgan O'Doherty (a pseudonym of William Maginn).
  • "G. C." contributed several other items (translations of poetry from French and Italian, short stories, etc.) to William John Thoms' short-lived magazine The Original (1832).
