According to this list (Google Books link) in Faith in the Fight: Civil War Chaplains there was a George G. Lyon as a methodist chaplain in the 36th Illinois during the American Civil War. It's about the right time period so this might be the right author but there's no proof of that. Related to this, there is a Lyon, George Gaines, 1821-1896 (VIAF link) who has civil war material in his bibliography. - AdamBMorgan (talk) 18:49, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
