Executive Order 970

It is hereby ordered that the southwest quarter of the southeast quarter of section seven, and the northwest quarter of the northeast quarter of section eighteen, township seventeen south range twelve west, New Mexico, within the limits of the Gila National Forest as established by proclamations of the President, dated July 21, 1905, and June 18, 1908, be further withdrawn from sale or other disposition, subject to private rights, if any there be, for military purposes to protect the water supply of Fort Bayard: Provided, That this withdrawal for use by the War Department shall not revoke the withdrawal of the land as a part of the Gila National Forest made by said proclamations of July 21, 1905, and June 18, 1908, but both withdrawals shall stand together.
