Our answer to the great appeal,

Shall prove if we are clay or steel,

Strike manfully for liberty,
Stretch helping hands across the sea,
And keep your own hearts clean and free,

Clean of the pettiness of hate,
    Americans, Americans,
Free to the love of all things great,
    Americans, Americans.
Clean of untruth and fear and greed,
Free faithfully to serve the need
Of God, wherever He may lead,
    Americans, Americans!
