Description
English: Written by his eldest son, Col. Richard Launcelot Maury, this work is about his father, Commodore Matthew Fontaine Maury during the War Between the States and mostly about electrical torpedoes. M F Maury had worked with electricity and wiring when assisting in the laying of the first successful trans-Atlantic Underwater cable by Cyrus Field who came to M F Maury on the feasibility of the idea.

Note: "Launcelot" is the correct spelling and is an old family name.
