THE WHITE HOUSE

WASHINGTON

CONFIDENTIAL

October 11, 1941.

MEMORANDUM FOR DR. VANNEVAR BUSH

I have sent the letter, as you suggested, and I suggest we fill in the blank, not with a letter of the alphabet, but with the word "Maudson".
I enclose the letter to Mr. Churchill with that notation in it.
Is this all right?
