Story authors[edit]

According to the preface, one story ("Der Freischütz") is a translation, two are original, and the other two are retellings based on a number of different sources.

  • "The Prediction" by Mary Diana Dods
  • "The Yellow Dwarf" based on "an olla podrida of odds and ends, a snip of the garment of every fairy tale written since the days of King Arthur", and retold by Mary Diana Dods
  • "Der Freischütz" by Johann August Apel, "Der Freischütz"
  • "The Fortunes of de la Pole" by Mary Diana Dods
  • "The Lord of the Maelstrom" based "upon an old nursery foundation", and retold by Mary Diana Dods

Could be worth trying to identify the sources that "The Yellow Dwarf" and "The Lord of the Maelstrom" drew on, see how close they are to them, and decide whether they're close enough to be added to the story headers, or even the author pages of the authors of the original sources that were drawn on. --YodinT 16:53, 23 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
