"Bright is the Warm Morning"

Am leuchtenden Sommermorgen,
     Geh' ich im Garten herum;
Es flüstern und sprechen die Blumen,
     Ich aber, ich wandle stumm.

Es flüstern und sprechen die Blumen,
     Und schaun mitleidig mich an:
"Sei unserer Schwester nicht böse,
     Du trauriger, blasser Mann!"

Bright is the warm summer morning,
     I wander the garden around;
The flowers are whisp'ring and talking,
     With sorrow my lips are fast bound.

The flowers are whisp'ring and talking,
     With pity my anguish they trace:
"Oh, be not unkind to our sister,
     Thou man with the sad, pale face!"
