Marriage and Matrimonial Property Law Amendment Act, 1988
To amend the marriage and matrimonial property law with regard to certain marriages; and to provide for matters connected therewith.

Be it enacted by the State President and the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa, as follows:―
1. Section 22 of the Black Administration Act, 1927, is hereby amended—
5. The following section is hereby substituted for section 89 of the Deeds Registries Act, 1937:
7. Section 102 of the Deeds Registries Act, 1937, is hereby amended by the substitution in subsection (1) for paragraphs (b) and (c) of the deﬁnition of “owner” of the following paragraphs:
8. This Act shall be called the Marriage and Matrimonial Property Law Amendment Act, 1988, and shall come into operation on a date ﬁxed by the State President by proclamation in the Gazette.
