Ashmead-Bartlett, Ellis, M.P. Eye since April, 1880, M.A. Christ Church, Oxon (sometime president of Oxford Univ. Debating Society), inspector of schools 1874-7, an examiner in the Education Dept. 1877-80, a student of the Inner Temple 22 Nov., 1873 (then aged 25), called to the bar 13 June, 1877 (eldest son of late Ellis Bartlett, Esq., of Brooklyn, New York); born ⁠, 1848.
