בזל, ברזל (Pa. of בזל, בז, v. בזא II) to scatter, to distribute by shaking (cmp. בדר Pa. 2). Sabb. 66b וכ׳ וליבזוליה Ms. M. a. oth. (ed. לברזוליה, לברזליה) et him shake it (the ant in the tube) to pieces and carry it off.

בזק m. (b. h.; v. next w.) [shattering, splitting,] lightning. Y. B. Mets. V, 11a top (citing the Mishnah) הב׳ והבריקה [not דב׳] and lightning struck her (affecting her feet, v. אבזקת).
בזק (בז, v. בזי II; cmp. בדק) to break, crush. Erub. X, 14 (104a) וכ׳ מלח בוזקין you may crush salt (lumps) on the steps (that the priests should not slip). Gen. R. s. 50, beg. (expl. הבזק כמראה, Ezek. I, 14) בוזק שהוא כזה וכ׳ as one who crushes pieces of peat in the stove (when the flames break forth). *if. נבזק (cmp. בזק) to be split in flashes, to flash (used of the divine spirit). Gen. R. s. 26 נבזקת היא הרוח וכ׳ the spirit flashes in (seizes) one of mnan's limbs, . .m הגוף בכל the entire body.
בזק ch. same. - Pa. בזק to cast (or shoot) a mass of fragments (as from a catapult). Snh. 108b עפרא בהון ב׳ וכ׳ Ar. (ed. שדינן והוה) he shot at them with dust and it turned into swords &c. *B. Bath. 73a מבזק כי והוה דברזלא גירוי ארבעין and there was a flash as if one shot forty arrows of iron (v. Koh. Ar. Compl. s. v. בזק, note 5). -- Ed. דחרדלא גריוי ארב׳ מבזר כי like one scattering forty measures of mustard [from a confusion of which two versions the variants in Mss. a. in Ar. arose, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note. - Ar. כמיבזק Ithpe.]. Ithpe., contr. איבזיק to be broken. Yoma 22b how do you know that Hazek (I Sam. XI, 8, v. next w.) is here used דמיבזיק לישנא in the sense of being broken (a frag- ment of pottery); perhaps it is the name of a place? B. Bath. 73a Ar., v. supra.

בזקא, ביזקא ch. same. Targ. Prov. XXVI, 8 Ar. (ed. ניקצא, Ms. ניסקא). -- Pl. בזקיא. Pesik. Shek. p. 18a when they were poor, ב׳ באילין Ar. (ed. בזקיא) they were counted with broken pieces of pottery, when rich with lambs (ed. reverse order); Num. R. s. 2 בזקייה.

בזר (b. h., בז, v. בזע) to strew, scatter. Kerith. 6b בוזרה Ar. (ed. incorr. בזורה, v. Rashi a. l.) he scatters it, lest it may decay. Pi. בזר same. Part. pass. מבוזר. Sifra B'har ch. I אאבל המב׳ מן בוצר אתה ed. Ven. a. oth. (Var. המופקר) but. you may gather (in the Sabbath year) the grapes from (broken) branches lying scattered on the ground, Opp. בארן השמור the vine seated in the ground (Y. Shebi. VII, 38b top המובקר).

בזרא, ביזרא m. (=זרעא בר, v. Nold. Mand. Gr. p. 55) seed. Targ. Y. Gen. I, 11 sq. (O. זרעא בר). Ib. v. 29. f. Snh. 93a, v. אספסתא. B. Mets. 74b בי׳ יהיב אריסא the tenant furnishes the seed; a. fr.
