זב, an abbreviation for זמן a. במה. Zeb. 28b דדמר בז״ב ליה because both subjects have reference tto time and application to the improvised altar (v. במה) as well as to the Temple. מעוהי; Esth. ותרן m. (preced. wds.; also in Chald. diction) liberal, benevolent, indugent. Snh. 102b היה . . . ו׳ was very liberal (supporting scholars). Y. Sot. V, end, 20d (ref. to Job I, 1) היה ו׳ he (lob) was liberal; וכ׳ ו׳ הוא דלית ומאן but if one is not liberal, may he not be virtuous (shun- ning evil)?; but it means forgiving &c., v. ותר. --- Num. R. s. 9, beg. וכ׳ בתוך ו׳ תהא be lenient in thy house (be not angry when anything gets broken &c.). Y. Gitt. IV, 45d bot. ו׳ דאנא אילולי if Iwere not lenient. -- Esp. lax in the practice of justice.
