טען I (cmp. טעה) [to seek, ask, (cmp. בעא),] 1) to claim before court, to sue, to plead. Keth. XIII, 4 את הטוען וכ׳ כדי חבירו if one claims from his neighbor a certain number of jugs of oil. Ib. 108b, a. e. וכ׳ חטין טענו if one claims wheat and barley (two different things), and de- fendant admits barley. Shebu. 43a וכ׳ בדבר שיטענו עד until he sues him for something weighable or countable.
