in doubt whether he has or has not said his prayers; a. v. fr.
פלל ch. same, to argue, debate (v. פלפל). Y. Shebi. VIII, 38b op חביריך עם פלתה דלא לך גרם מאן what brought it on thee (that thou couldst not solve that problem)? That thou didst not hold debates with thy fellow students; Y. Ned. XI, 42c bot. ילפתה (corr. acc.).
פללגולהf. (reduplic. of פלג; cmp. pallacana) dwarf- onion. Y. Kil. I, 27a, expl. בצלצול q. v.
פכם p be round, smooth (cmp. Arab. tafailam pinguis fuit); only in part. Pu. מפולם smooth, viscous. -- Pl.מפולמין, מפולמות. Bets. 24b המפ׳ דגים moist fish (fresh-caught). Zeb. 54a מפ׳ אבים smooth stones (fresh from the ground). Hag. 12a (expl. בהו Gen. I, 2) וכ׳ המפ׳ אבנים אלו that means the smooth (chaotic) stones which are sunk in the deep &c. פלסטון m. (~~~~~~~) fabricated, a fraud. Num. R. s. 8 the nations said הוא פ׳ אלו של תורתן that people's Law is a fraud (they do not observe itt themseles); Midr. Sam. ch. XXVIII פלסתר. Y. B. Mets. V, end, 10a שעושין טפש משה ואת פלסטרן התורה (corr. acc.) they (the usurers), declare the Law (forbidding usury) a fraud, and Moses a fool; Tosef. ib. VI, 17 פלסטר; (Bab. ib. 75b חכם משה אמת ותורתו, euphem.). Y'lamd. to Num. XVI, quot. in Ar. וכ׳ תורתו הוא פ׳ the law of Moses is a fraud. Yalk.
