צלף (cmp. צלל) to vibrate. Hif. הצלים to swing (a whip); to strike. Yoma V, 3, 8q. כמצליף אלא. .. היה לא (in sprinkling upward and down- ward) he did not aim at a certain point above or below, but made the movement of swinging a whip; ib. 1a; a. e., v. מנגדנא a. טברי.

צלף m. caper-bush. Maasr. IV, 6 וכ׳ מתעשר הצ׳ of the caper-tree the tithes must be given of the palm like shoots, of the fruit, and of the flower (v. Low, Pf., p. 264); Ber. 36a (identical with נצפה). B. Bath. 28b כגון . . . אכלה צ if one partook of three products of the same tree within three days, as for instance of the caper-bush.
