קועא m. (cmp. נקע) throat, gullet, windpipe. Ab. Zar. 29a (to one that entrusted himself to a gentile barber) לזוגא קועיך יאי thou hast a fine neck for the shears. Bull. 28a; 53b, v. מסמס I. B. Kam. 117a מיניה לקועיה ששמטיה tore his windpipe out ofhim (a colloquial expression for; forced him to give up the threatened information against his neighbor; differ. in Rashi). Ib. 55a קועיה אריך (Ms. H. קאק׳, emended קעק; Ar. קקיה; v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 200) has a long neck, ק׳ זוטר a short neck. Ib. קועיה אלים (Ms. M. קאקיה) has a thick neck; ק׳ קטין slender neck.
