דשות I f. (denom. of רש) poverty. Midr. Till. to Ps. XXIV רשותו לפי שמו ואין רש יש (ed. Bub. עניותו) many a man is poor, but his reputation is not in harmmony with his poverty (it being thnt he is wealthy). Yalk. Gen. 147 (ref. to Koh. IV, 14) וכ׳ רשותו נולדה . . . במלכותו with Joseph's elevation to governorship Potiphar's poverty was born; Gen. R. s. 89 רשתו; Yalk. Koh. 97 1 רשתו. דששות II, . (רשה) 1) pmouwer, auuthority, control.
