Maistres des requestes. The Maisters of Requests; at first there were but two, an Ecclesiasticall, and a lay man; afterwards they came to be fiue; two assistants to the Chauncellor, and three Petition-receiuers (whereof see more in, Iuges de la porte, vnder Iuge.) Anno 1342 they grew to be six; and Anno 1408 they increased vnto eight; which number Henry the third doubling, made them sixteene. They be Conseillers of the bodie of Parliaments, and of the great Counsell, ouer which, in the absence of the Judges, they preside; as they doe also at the Seales of all Parliamentall Chaunceries, where they heare the reports of the Referendaires: They also take notice of the falsification of Chauncerie Seales; and iudge (en premiere Instance) all controuersies arising about the Titles of royall Offices. Resaper, & Resapper. To vnderprop, or vnderset a wall; to repaire it at the foot, or after it hath beene vndermined.
Resarcir. To mend, reforme, repaire; also, to make amends for.
Resarcler. To weed ouer againe.
Resasser. To sift againe.
Resavourer. To tast, essay, try, sauor of once more, or againe.
Resbaudir. To glad, reioyce, exhilerate. Resbaudir vn chien. To incourage, or cheere vp a dog with clapping, whooping, &c.
Reschal: m. Yellow wyre, such as netting for windowes is made of.

Rescrire. To write backe; to returne an answer in writing. Rescrire de son exploict. (A Sergeant) to returne the Writ; or to deliuer in writing how he serued it, and what succeeded thereon.
