20 Oct. (p.2) in wind-break just north of house. Set up about 1 pm. Near dusk, caught one Spizella passerina. A number seen in area along with Eng. Sparrows. 21 Oct. Another Spizella passerina in the mist net this morning. In mid-afternoon, one male Passer domesticus. 22 Oct. Collect 2 Carpodacus mexicanus (one male, one female) & 1 Spizella pusilla from the mist that. Two Spizella passerina released. First frost here at the house that have seen. 23 Oct. Caught and released 3 Spizella passerina in the mist net. Bufo woodhousei (one) seen about the light tonight, after two consecutive nights of frost. 26 Oct. In evening caught and released 2 Carpodacus mexicanus and 1 Spizella passerina. Caught also, and kept, 3 Passer domesticus. Saw a female Cardinal and red-winged blackbirds near the house. 27 Oct. In evening caught 3 Spizella passerina & 1 Spizella pusilla. Released one of the chipping sparrows--the other 2 were dead in the net. 28 Oct. In evening, 1 Passer domesticus in net. Released. 2 Nov. Net was taken down on 30 Oct. Today saw both red-winged blackbirds and yellow-headed blackbirds in a large flock that regularly appears near the place on Mamie Rd. My mother reports Killdeer
