4 April Some drizzle during night & day; fog. In early afternoon, set out 9 Museum Specials near Big Creek on the Bird Farm in weeds & grass, near fallen tree debris, and around junk. Sylvilagus seen. Rather fresh tooth-marks on a large cottonwood of Castor canadensis. Relatively little apparent mouse sign. Picked up 7 of traps a couple hrs. after dark--most sprung by rain. 5 Apil. In afternoon, picked up the remaining 2 traps--nothing. Set one in weeds near house and other by a boxcar used for storage. Checked later in evening--one Peromyscus maniculatus from near the boxcar. Some light rain after set traps. 6 April Left traps set during day after checking this morning. About 6 pm, a Mus musculus from the weeds. 9 April Leave Albertson Hall 1:35 pm. Odometer: 81587.9. Gassed up at McPherson & eating at El Dorado. Lower Vertebrate class with the exception of Walsh & the addition of Dallas Wilhelm, Dwight Ittner, Tony Mollhagen, and Don Lauer. Lauer driving the new carryall, I the old one. Are making camp at Fall River Reservoir, 3 mi. N and 4 mi. W Fall River, Greenwood Co., Kans.
