Bound in blue cloth with pictorial stamping in gold on the cover and spine and gold lettering; gilt top. 121 numbered pages, 7¼×9½. This edition is limited to 525 copies, of which 500 are for sale. All are signed by the artist. Twelve full-page illustrations in colour mounted on brown paper and twenty-four drawings in black and white, also end-papers, all by Arthur Rackham.

There is a trade edition bound in blue cloth with pictorial stamping on the cover and spine in gold, black lettering on the cover and gold lettering on the spine. The publishers’ stamp is on the back cover in black. This edition has the same number of illustrations as the limited edition. The first issue has the same pictorial end-papers; the later issues, plain end-papers.

American Edition: Bound in red cloth with white lettering on the cover and spine. This edition is the same as the English trade edition with the exception of the binding. Published by J. B. Lippincott, Philadelphia. The limited edition has the same binding as the English limited edition, the only difference being that the publisher's name at the bottom of the spine is Lippincott instead of Heinemann.

This edition is limited to 525 numbered and signed copies. There is an envelope in this book with an extra plate signed by the artist. Thirteen full-page illustrations in colour mounted on white
