Pity the Deep in Love

(To Fiona)

Pity the deep in love;
They move as men asleep,
Traveling a narrow way
Precipitous and steep.
Tremulous is the lover’s breath
With little moans and sighs;
Heavy are the brimming lids
Upon a lover’s eyes.
