Open Door

ONCE I held my heart’s door full wide
That love might enter in;
I saw him pass in peacock pride,
Nor cast a glance within.

The door stands wide by night and day,
The lamp burns on though dim,
Lest some lone traveler lose his way.
(Love thinks it burns for him.)
