History painter, pupil of the Munich Academy under Schlotlhauer, whom he accompanied lo Upper Italy (1834). After he had assisted Heinrich Hess in the Basilica, and Cornelius in the fresco of the SI. Louis Church in Munich, he spenl Ihree years in Athens, painting historical scenes in the Royal Palace, and at the end of 1843 went to Constantinople, Egypt, and through the desert via Julia to Jerusalem, of which city he painted a panorama (18 ft. x 100 ft., Lateran, Rome).
