Ships "Neptune" and " Cornwallis," as Lieut, in the "Flying Fish" Channel Squadron 1859-60, the "Emerald" 1860-3, the "Princess Royal" 1864-7, an <i the "Defence" 1868; was with Sir W. IV-d's Naval Brig, throughout the Indian Mutiny; appointed Comman- der of the "Formidable," and trans- ferred to the "Hercules" 1868, and in 1871 to the " Lord Warden ; " became Capt. 1872 ; appointed Capt. 11. M.S. " Agincourt," Oct. 1874; transferred to H.M.S. "Minotaur" 1875 ; has the Royal Humane Soiety's Silver medal for saving, when com- mander of H.M.S.
