Howe'er, tho' She and all her Senate frown,
I'll wage eternal War with P——ton,
And venture Life and Fame to pull him down.
As he went on, his Tongue a trembling seiz'd,
And all his Pow'r of Utterance suppress'd.
So when the Sybil felt th' Inspiring God,
She raving lost her Voice, and speechless stood.

Unhappy Church, by such Usurpers sway'd!
How is thy Native Purity decay'd?
How are thy Prelates chang'd from what they were,
