Upon Mr. Kirby's amendment being put to the vote, it was declared lost, only three voting for it. Dr. Caster's motion was then put to the vote, and also declared lost; but it was understood that the matter would be brought before the Council and dealt with by them in accordance with Mr. Brabrook's suggestion.
The President then delivered his Presidential Address, his subject being "The Discrimination of Racial Elements in the Folklore of the British Isles." At the conclusion of the Address a hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the President on the motion of Professor York-Powell.
