FRENCH NURSERY RHYMES.

Baa, baa, becky baa!
Little lamb running through the town,
Falls and dislocates his ankle[1]
Against a road-stone,[2] alas!
Then will cry: "Oh, la la!
Friend ewe, to me, to me!"

Baa, baa, becky baa!
Little lamb running through the mountains,
Finds himself caught in the bushes,
And hurts himself,[3]
Then will cry: "Oh, la la!
Friend ewe, to me, to me!"

THE WOLF'S PRAYER.

Where are you going, wolf?
—I am going, I don't know where,
To find a stray animal,
Or an animal poorly watched.
—Wolf, I forbid you,
By the great powerful God,
To do any more harm to them
Than a good mother
Would do to her baby.
