his āncennedan Sunu, þæt nān ne forwurðe þe on hine gelȳfð, ac hæbbe þæt ēce līf.[1]

17. Ne sende God his Sunu on middanearde þæt hē dēmde middanearde, ac þæt middaneard sȳ gehǣled þurh hine.[2]

18. Ne biþ þām gedēmed ðe on hine gelȳfð; sē ðe ne gelȳfð, him biþ gedēmed, for þām þe hē ne gelȳfde on ðone naman þæs āncennedan Godes Suna.[3]

19. Þæt is sē dōm, þæt lēoht cōm on middaneard, and menn lufedon þȳstro swȳþor ðonne þæt lēoht: hyra weorc wǣron yfele.[4]

20. Ælc ðāra þe yfele dēð hatað þæt lēoht, and hē ne cymþ to lēohte, þæt his weorc ne sȳn gerihtlǣhte.[5]

21. Witodlīce sē ðe wyrcð sōðfæstnesse cymp tō ðām lēohte, þæt his weorc sȳn geswutelude, for ðām þe hig synt on Gode gedōne.[6]

22. Æfter þyson cōm sē Hǣlend and his leorningcnihtas tō Iudea lande, and wunode ðǣr mid him, and fullode.[7]

23. And Iohannes fullode on Enon wið Salim, for ðām þe þǣr wǣron manega wætro; and hī tōgædere cōmun, and wǣron gefullode.[8]
