[viii, 29-

Sunu ūpp āhebbaþ, þonne gecnāwe gē þæt ic hit eom, and ic ne dō nān þing of mē sylfum, ac ic sprece þās þing swā Fæder mē lǣrde.[1]

29. And sē ðe mē sende is mid mē; and hē ne forlǣt mē ānne; for þām þe ic wyrce symble þā þing þe him synt gecwēme.[2]

30. Ðā he ðās ðing spræc, manega gelȳfdon on hine,[3]

Ðys [godspel] sceal on þunresdæg on þǣre forman lengtenwucan.

31. Witodlīce sē Hǣlend cwæð tō þām Iudeon þe him gelȳfdon, Gif gē wunegeað on mīnre spǣce, sōðlīce gē bēoð mīne leorningcnihtas;[4]

32. and gē oncnāwað sōðfæstnysse, and sōþfæstnes ēow ālȳst.

33. Ðā andswarodon hī him and cwǣdon, Wē synt Abrahames cynnes, and ne þēowedon wē nanum men nǣfre; hūmeta cwyst þū, Gē bēoð frīge?

34. Sē Hǣlend him andswarude and cwæð, Sōþ ic ēow secge, Þæt þe synne wyrcð is þǣre synne þēow.

35. Witodlīce sē þēow ne wunaþ on hūse on ēcnesse; sē sunu wunaþ on ēcnesse.
