27. Hwylc ēower mæg sōþlīce geþencean þæt hē geēacnige āne elne tō hys anlīcnesse?[1]

28. And tō hwī synt gē ymbhȳdige be rēafe? Bescēawiað æcyres lilian, hū hig weaxað; ne swincað hig, nē hig ne spinnað.[2]

29. Ic secge ēow sōðlīce þæt furðon Salomon on eallum hys wuldre næs oferwrigen swā swā ān of ðyson.[3]

30. Sōþlīce gyf æcyres wēod, þæt ðe tō dæg is and bið tō morgen on ofen āsend, God [swā] scrȳt, Ēalā gē gehwǣdes gelēafan! þām mycle mā hē scrȳt ēow.[4]

31. Nellen gē eornustlīce bēon ymbhȳdige, þus cweþende, Hwæt ete wē? oððe, Hwæt drince wē? oððe, Mid hwām bēo wē oferwrogene?[5]

32. Sōþlīce ealle þās þing þēoda sēceað; witodlīce ēower Fæder wāt þæt gē eallra þyssa þinga beþurfon.[6]

33. Eornustlīce sēceað ǣrest Godes rīce and hys rihtwīsnesse, and ealle þās þing ēow bēoþ þǣr tō geēacnode.[7]

34. Ne bēo gē nā hogiende ymb[8] þā morgenlīcan
