Book, George Milton, naval officer, was born in Pennsylvania. Since 1861 he has been connected with the United States navy. He served seventeen years in sea service and twelve years on shore duty; and in 1900 was retired with the rank of rear admiral. Book, John William, clergyman, author, was born Oct. 31, 1850, in Clark county, Ind. In 1873 he was ordained a, catholic priest; and in 1886 was made dean of the Cannelton district, Indiana. He is the author of Short Line to the Roman Catholic Church; Side Switches of the Short Line; Thousand and One Objections to Secret Societies; MoUie's Mistake, or Mixed Marriages; The Book of Books and other works. Booker, George William, lawyer, jurist, congressman, was born Dec. 5. 1821, in Patrick county, Va. He supported the government during the civil war; and was elected to the house of delegates of Virginia in 1865. In 1869-71 he was a representative to the forty-first congress; and in 1873-75 was a member of the state legislature. He died June 4, 1883, in Martinsville, Va. Boomer, George Boaidman, soldier, bridge was born July 36, 1832, in Sutton, Mass. He laid out and partly built the town of Castle Rock on the Osage river. As c61onel in the twenty-second regiment Missouri builder,

volunteers he was present at the surrender of Island No. 10; and at the battle of luka was severely wounded. He was killed in a charge on the fortfications of Vicksburg on May 32, 1863.

Boone, Andrew R., lawyer, jurist, legislatcongressman, was born April 4, 1831, in Davidson county Tenn. In 1854-58 he was a county judge. In 1861 he was elected to the state legislature but resigned; and in 1868-74 was judge of the first district of Kentucky. In 1875-79 he was a representative from Tennessee to the forty-fourth and forty-fifth congresses as a democrat. Boone, Charles Theodore, soldier, lawyer, author, was born April 11, 1838, in Chester county. Pa. He taught school for awhile. In 1861 he filled the office of postmaster; and in 1863 served in the union army. In 1871 he was admitted to the New York bar; and then practiced law in San Francisco, Cal. He was a member of the grand army of the republic. He was the author of Law of Corporations; Law of Real Property; Law of Mortgages; Code Pleading, in two volumes; Banks and Banking; and Test Book of Law and Practice. He died July 37, 1903, in San Francisco,
