PORTRAIT OF A BOY. Sm. 12, 20, and Suppl. 7 ; M. 125. A half-length of a boy who is between thirteen and fifteen. He faces three-quarters right. His long fair hair falls on his shoulders. He wears a dark brown velvet cap with red and white feathers, a white collar, and a vest buttoned up to the neck. It is not a portrait of the painter, as Moes (2096, No. 10) and Martin suggest, since it dates from Dou's maturity. The picture has been damaged and afterwards restored, but it is still a good work.
