On the right is a house. At the door and in front of it are various figures. In the centre a man stands beside a seated man. Farther to the left a man throws a ball. At the back are numerous other figures in the village street, with a church-tower. Signed in full to the right on an overturned bench ; panel, 25^ inches by 27^ inches. In the courtyard of a rustic inn five men are grouped at a table under a tree on the right j they smoke, drink, and converse. On the left two peasants play ring-ball, striking a wooden ball through a ring fixed in the ground. A boy looks on. In the right back- ground is a barn. In the centre foreground is a tub.
