the 45 fathoms when it parted. She struck a few minutes after the second chain parted. Sail was made after the second chain parted. She was working inwards(illegible text) till about 10 or 11 o'clock. I think the first chain was quite enough to hold her all hands were on deck. I don't think anything else could have been done to save the ship. The wind was from the north east. I can't say the reading of the barrometer. When she parted she struck aft first. I was twice washed oft by the seas shipped.
