HOT RUM.

Hot Whiskey Sling.

(Use medium bar-glass, hot.)

  • Take 1 small tea-spoonful of powdered sugar.
  • Take 1 wine-glass of Bourbon or rye whiskey.

Dissolve the sugar in a little hot water, add the whiskey, and fill the glass two-thirds full of boiling water. Grate a little nutmeg on top, and serve.


Hot Spiced Rum.

(Use medium bar-glass, hot.)

  • Take 1 small tea-spoonful of powdered white sugar.
  • Take 1 wine-glass of Jamaica rum.
  • Take 1 tea-spoonful of spices, (allspice and cloves not ground).
  • Take 1 piece of sweet butter, as large as half a chestnut.

Dissolve the sugar in a little boiling water, add the rum, spices and butter, and fill the glass two-thirds full of boiling water.
