First rinse the glass with hot water, put in the sugar, fill the glass half-full of boiling water, add the whiskey and stir. Serve with a spoon.


Irish Whiskey Skin.

(Use small bar-glass.)

  • Take 1 lump of white sugar.
  • Take 1 small wine-glass of Irish whiskey.
  • Take 1 small piece of lemon-peel.

Proceed as directed for Scotch Whiskey Skin.


Columbia Skin.

(Use small bar-glass.)

This is a Boston drink, and is made the same as a Whiskey Skin.


Tom Collins Whiskey.

(Use small bar-glass.)

  • Take 5 or 6 dashes of gum syrup.
  • Take Juice of a small lemon.
  • Take 1 large wine-glass of whiskey.
  • Take 2 or 3 lumps of ice.

Shake up well and strain into a large bar-glass.

Fill up the glass with plain soda water and imbibe while it is lively.
