A bill to define and regulate the fees of the associate judges of the circuit courts;

The bill being read the first time,

Mr. Martin moved to reject it; which motion was disagreed to.

Mr. Hascall, from the committee on the judiciary, reported

A bill repealing a part of the twenty-fifth section of the act for the punishment of crimes;

The bill was read the first time.

Mr. Doty, from the committee on incorporations, made the following report, which was laid on the table:

The committee on incorporations has had under consideration the petition of the inhabitants of Lenawe, praying the establishment of a bank at Tecumseh; and a majority of the committee beg leave to recommend to the house the adoption of the following resolution:

Resolved, That the prayer of the petitioners ought not to be granted.

Mr. Martin, from the committee on the judiciary, to whom was referred the resolution of the 4th instant, directing them to inquire into the expediency of licensing grocers, made an unfavorable report thereon; which was concurred in.

The bill to provide for the maintenance and protection of the poor within the limits of the city of Detroit, and the bill to authorize the building a dam across the Fox river, in the county of Brown were severally read a second time by their titles.

The Council again resolved itself into a committee of the whole, on the bill to provide for the election of a county assessor, and for other purposes; and after some time spent therein, the committee rose, and Mr. Renwick reported, that the committee had again had the said bill under consideration, and directed him to report the same with amendments.

On motion of Mr. Bacon, the Council concurred in the report of the committee of the whole on the said bill as amended.

Mr. Stockton gave notice, that, on a future day, he should ask leave to introduce a bill to establish the "Macomb County Bank," with a capital of 200,000 dollars.

Mr. Bacon gave notice, that, on a future day, he should ask leave to introduce a bill to establish a bank at Tecumseh, in the county of Lenawe.

Mr. Hascall gave notice, that, on a future day, he should ask leave to introduce a bill to regulate the fees of grand and petit jurors.

The Council adjourned.
