1. Card announcing decease.

2. The unfilial Tieu Soi in serving has been destitute of good conduct (i.e. very worthless.)

3. And caused (this) calamity to befall his illustrious mother

4. Who by the Imperial Pure (dynasty's) customary bestowal (of honorary degree) is U Ing, with the additional conferment of Ang Ing.

5. Mrs. Ting T‘ai Ang Ing was taken ill the previous month.

6. And, alas! in the present month, the 4th day, at the T‘iu hour, expired in the inner chamber.

7. Born in the Keng sok year of Kieng Lung, the 10th month, 30th day, Sok hour.

8. And was 79 years of age.

9. We mournfully communicate the information of this (sad event).

10. We have carefully selected the 10th day when the mourning apparel will be announced complete (i.e. when we will begin to wear mourning).

11. On the 11th and 12th days we will receive (your) cards (i.e. visits of condolence).

12. The orphan Ling Tien Soi weeps tears of blood.

13. The given-away-son, Tieu Ang, weeps and performs the kotau.

14. The one-year-mourning grandson, (son of Tieu soi) Pang Ngwong, performs the kotau.

15. The nine-months'-mourning grandsons (sons of Tieu Ang) Pang Lik, Pang Tai, and Pang Ch‘iong, wipe their tears.

16. The five-months'-mourning great-grandsons (sons of Pang Ngwong) Sing Ping and Sing Hi perform the kotau.

17. We reside at Ngung Siong P‘wo.
