This Digest is arranged upon the plan of Bridgman's, which it equals in execution and accuracy. Although it bears the names of two persons as compilers, it is said to have been chiefly the work of Mr. Barbour. It is in very general use in the United States, and is deservedly held in high repute. It has, it will be observed, the strange anomaly of the commingling of English, Irish, and American decisions. This pecu- liarity, however, does not detract from its merit, since the Equity Juris- prudence of the United Slates has, for the most part, grown out of the English and Irish systems. 17 A.
