London. 1831. The paging of the first edition of Douglas' Reports is not preserved in the octavo, which has caused some inconvenience and difficulty in finding the references. The preface to the first volume contains some excellent hints upon the best method of reporting, which will well repay a perusal. Douglas' Reports are noted for the accuracy, care, and method with which they are prepared, and are of the highest authority. The third and fourth volumes were partly prepared for the press by the author when the MSS. were placed in the hands of Serjeant Frere, who did something more towards their advance, when it was placed under the supervision of Mr. Roscoe, who, with the aid of contemporary manuscripts, prepared and published the continuing volumes of Douglas' Reports, in every respect worthy of their predecessors.
