FURFURYL ALCOHOL: METHOD 2505, Issue 2, dated 15 August 1994 - Page 4 of 4 PURIFICATION OF NEAT STANDARD: Pure furfuryl alcohol is a clear viscous liquid; however, it decomposes upon standing for extended periods. If the furfuryl alcohol as received is a dark-colored, distill it at 170 °C prior to use. Store the purified material in a dark bottle in a refrigerator at 0 °C.
